Come here, my pretty. Into the whitish cave...
| Description: | Above is a snake showing its fangs. These two intruments can take lives. But also save them. The mainly used medicine for snakebite is called antivenin. The snake has it's venom partially extracted for antidotes. Milking is what this is called...a very dangerous but important process in saving snakebite victims. The venom of a snake is one of the serpent family's deadliest tools. Snakes have two different toxins in their venom, the toxin depending on the snake. Hemotoxins are one venom ingredient, attacking blood and circulatory system; while the other type is called neurotoxins, attacking the nervous system. But keep in mind that not all snakes are vonomous, only about twenty species of snakes have over a eighty percent chance of fatalities. Fangs are basically oversized teeth, connecting to modified saliva glands that now are venom sacs. the fang is a long, slender tooth that is covered by fleshy gums, known as the fang sheath. and like that of a sword sheath, it can be pulled back, revealing a fang for each sheath. MIlking is now being used to save lives. |
