Lizard Amazings...
| Description: | Above you see a desert iguana. native to arizona through texas and mexico, this is the smallest iguana, not even reach more that one and a half feet long. The biggest, a rhino iguana, grows to almost eight feet long. These are some very interesting lizards I have noticed...
Longest lizard--The almost fifteen foot long paupa new guinea monitor is the longest lizard. It is about one island away from co exsisting with the Komodo dragon.
Largest lizard--The Komodo dragon, weighing up to four hundred pounds, and up to ten feet long, is the largest lizard. They are very rare, their saliva is full of bacteria.
Smallest lizard--The Jaragua is a tiny gecko that barely lives on the carribean islands. It is sixteen millimeters long, about three quarters of an inch long, and is severely endangered.
Only venomous lizards--The Gila monster of far southern US and mexico and the Mexican Beaded lizard are the only two venomous species of lizards. they often take hours to pry off, like a bul dog, and fatalities are low.
Fastest lizard--The raceruner can compete with a black mamba by running over fifteen miles an hour tops.
Only fully marine lizard--The Marine iguana is about four feet long and eats algae and other undersea plants. Bizzare looking animals, they are very endangered. |
