| Description: | Velociraptors were speedy, agile, and the size of a large human kid. Small, compared to other dinosaurs, but size doesn't matter. the hunt in large packs of 4-10. These were closely related to the Deinonychuses, ten foot long raptors; Megaraptors, 20+ foot long cousins; and Utahraptors. That could easily take out a small Allosaur, providing they existed at the time, or a Tyrannosaur. These hunters lived in Mongolia and North America. They lived in the americas area of Laurasia. They also ate insects. The velociraptor and its cousins, larger versions of the velociraptor (or at least that's what they look like), were quick sprinters with moderate endurance. They were not as smart as the troodontids, but were still quite smart never the less. There is some possibility that they and troodontids had a large number of feathers on them. They would hunt in packs, and kill by some leaping onto the prey, slashing; and others kicking and biting from the bottom. But some therapods, such as a large female Tyrannosaurus could escape and even fight an average sized pack of velociraptors. Despite their awesome hunting capacity, they were often preyed on individually by large pteranodons such as Queztoquatolus. And when they would venture close enough, they were rarely eaten by huge sea reptiles. It is [i] theorized [/i] that they would sometimes eat carrion. |
